Welcome to the Weingarten Center
Dear Penn Community:
We are entering the season of welcome messages and events to new members of the Penn community. New Student Orientation events showcase the many offices and services available for students. If you are a returning student, reflect and consider what you want to do differently this academic year. Challenge yourself to check out a service that you heard about from your friends but have yet to explore. Perhaps it is time to join a club or organization. Whatever your choice, find ways to engage with Penn, its faculty, staff, and fellow students.
Here is an opportunity for both incoming and returning students. Although the Weingarten Center staff would prefer to be in Stouffer Commons, meeting with students face-to-face, we remain committed to being present and available to assist students. Since the start of the remote learning period in March, the Weingarten Center quickly adjusted to working with students via virtual meetings and offering virtual study skills workshops and tutoring services. Whether determining accommodations for students with disabilities, guiding students in strengthening their study strategies, or finding a tutoring option that meets students’ expectations, the staff’s commitment to supporting students reflects our commitment to the well-being of all students.
I encourage you to review our website. Now, students can easily make an appointment online to meet with a Learning Specialist, Tutoring Coordinator, or Disability Specialist. Over the next several months, the office website will undergo revisions to improve its appearance and navigability. Also, consider subscribing to the Weingarten Newsletter, an ideal way to learn more about our services and staff profiles. Another helpful way to learn about study strategies is through the Weingarten Blog. Of course, if you prefer Twitter or Instagram, then please subscribe to these newsfeeds and keep current with Weingarten activities.
The Weingarten Center is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EDT. If you have questions, please contact the Weingarten Center at 215-573-9235. The Operations Support staff will direct your inquiry to the appropriate staff member who can address your needs. On behalf of the Weingarten Center staff, we wish you well as you begin the fall semester. Take care of yourselves. Penn continues to provide updates at COVID-19 Information and Resources.
